In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter and 16 ounces of the marshmallows, reserving the remaining marshmallows for later.
Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and cooled cake mix until smooth and combined.
Add the Rice Krispies cereal and gently fold until evenly coated.
Fold in the reserved mini marshmallows and sprinkles.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and gently press into an even layer. Avoid packing it down too firmly.
