Magic Cookie Bars are nothing new, we grew up making these every year to include with our Christmas cookie trays. The reason they have the word magic in their name? Not entirely sure, some would say it's the way all of the ingredients magically meld together. My take? The magic in how fast they disappear off the cookie trays!

Magic Cookie Bars are more like candy than a cookie. Between the buttery graham cracker crust and the crisp coconut topping forms the most perfect caramelized, chewy center from the sweetened condensed milk. Deliciously layered combining a crunchy base, gooey sweetened condensed milk, and a mix of chocolate chips, coconut, and nuts. This easy-to-make dessert brings together the perfect balance of textures and flavors in every bite. Ready to satisfy your sweet tooth? Let's make them!

Servings 2 Dozen

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 1 14 oz. can Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ⅓ cup flaked coconut

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Coat 13 x 9-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  • Combine graham cracker crumbs and butter in small bowl. Press into bottom of prepared pan. Pour ⅔ of the sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Layer evenly with chocolate chips and coconut. Press down firmly with fork. Drizzle remaining ⅓ of sweetened condensed milk across the toppings evenly.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Loosen from sides of pan while still warm; cool on wire rack. Cut into bars or small squares. See Notes and picture.

Notes

-Allow the bars to cool before cutting them. For mine, I used a small square cookie or biscuit cutter and put each in a small paper wrapper as pictured.
-Depending how big or small you choose to cut your Magic Cookie Bars will determine how many you will get total.
