Just like how your clothes and fashion trends transition with the seasons, the produce we use tells the story of what’s on our tables. This Roasted Cherry Burrata Appetizer with honey, basil, and topped with chopped hazelnuts is the perfect transitional recipe — easing us gently into the abundance of summer fruit while still holding onto those fresh early spring vibes.

I’ll admit, I’m always way too premature when it comes to my produce selections. The minute I spot fresh Bing cherries, I just have to have some. I guess the scarcity of delicious fruits during winter and the long wait for seasonal produce only build up the anticipation even more. It can be a matter of luck, though, because sometimes the fruit isn’t quite ready and doesn’t live up to the hype. But with this roasted cherry appetizer recipe, it won’t even matter — even if the cherries aren’t at their spring or summer peak of juiciness, the prep and ingredients we use elevate their natural flavors.
Then there’s the burrata cheese… enough said. If someone simply gave you a piece of burrata on your plate, I don’t think much else would be needed to make you happy. Paired with roasted cherries, fresh basil, crunchy hazelnuts, and some toasty bread, this burrata combination is pure euphoria.

How to Serve Burrata at BBQs, Parties, and Holiday Entertaining
Serving burrata at BBQs, parties, and holiday entertaining is a breeze with this roasted cherry burrata appetizer. One of the best things about this recipe is how much you can prep ahead of time—roast the cherries, toast the hazelnuts, and slice the bread early—so when guests arrive, you’re not stuck in the kitchen. Set everything out buffet-style and let everyone build their own perfect plate. Some might pile on extra burrata and bread, while others will load up on the sweet roasted cherries and fresh basil. The drizzle of honey ties it all together beautifully, giving your guests the freedom to customize their bites. This flexibility makes it a crowd-pleaser at casual BBQs, elegant parties, and festive holiday gatherings, all while keeping things fresh, seasonal, and effortless.
Storage
Store the roasted cherries, toasted hazelnuts, basil, and honey separately in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 3–4 days. Keep the burrata cheese refrigerated in its original packaging and add it fresh just before serving for the best texture and flavor.
