Royal icing is a smooth, versatile frosting perfect for decorating cookies, creating intricate designs, or adding a glossy finish to your baked goods. Made with just a few ingredients, it’s easy to customize for any occasion.
Take the 2 lb bag of confectioners sugar and add to a medium/large mixing bowl.
Add the meringue powder and cream of tartar. Whisk together.
Add the water and mix well.
Use the main bowl for the white icing and create smaller bowls to mix batches of different colors using the gel or other food coloring.
Add your icing to piping bags or bottles to decorate cookies.
Notes
-Allow your iced cookies to dry for a couple hours before putting away to reduce the risk of cracking or damaging your icing.-If your icing gets hard or dries between decorating, add a few small drops of warm water to the bowl and mix.
