This is the classic Paloma cocktail—minus the alcohol and with a boost of nutritional goodness. The Paloma Mocktail delivers everything you love about the signature drink, with a refreshing twist of Ruby Red Grapefruit.

Refreshing Paloma mocktail with ruby red grapefruit, fizzy mineral water, agave, and a grapefruit slice garnish on a salty sweet rim.

Lately, virgin drinks, mocktails, and zero-proof cocktails—whatever term you prefer to call them—have been all the rage.

I'm a believer in all things in moderation. So this recipe isn't a means of swearing off all alcohol or beloved vino, but if you can swap out an alcoholic drink and sip something with health benefits in its place, why not? Since we are at the beginning of January, also known as "Dry January" use this as an opportunity to try something new, that is good for your health and equally refreshing. Who knows...maybe this will replace the old recipe from your rotation all together.

The Topo Chico Mineral Water is a great substitute and helps keep the drink from being too sweet. I really love the flavors, especially the freeze-dried strawberries blended into the salty-sweet rim. The strawberry brightens up the taste of the Ruby Red Grapefruit and makes it shine.

Add 2 oz of tequila to this recipe to give it a smooth, bold kick that perfectly complements the bright ruby red grapefruit. For a lighter fizz, swap Topo Chico for regular club soda.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use regular sparkling water instead of Topo Chico?

Absolutely! While Topo Chico gives the classic Paloma a crisp, mineral-rich fizz, any good-quality sparkling water will work. Just make sure it’s chilled for the best refreshment.

What’s the difference between a Paloma cocktail and a mocktail?

The main difference is alcohol. A Paloma cocktail has tequila, while this mocktail swaps that out for sparkling water and fresh flavors to keep it refreshing and alcohol-free.

Is ruby red grapefruit juice better than pink or white for this recipe?

Ruby red grapefruit juice has a sweeter, fuller flavor that pairs beautifully with the sparkling water and citrus in this mocktail. Pink or white grapefruit juice can work too but might be a bit more tart or bitter.
